ご講演要旨
これからの世界の行方―「トゥキュディデスの罠」論を中心に
Title: A Prospect of the World Order: focusing on the “Thucydides’s Trap” argument
中国の台頭に伴い、米国覇権時代の終わり（の始まり）が唱えられるようになった。そのため、今後の世界(その秩序と安定)の行方に関心が集まっている。東アジアで一番関心が高いと思われる「トゥキュディデスの罠」論に焦点を当て、中国が米国に代わって覇権を掌握する可能性があるか、その場合に覇権戦争が生じるかを探ってみる。その可能性は低いとの暫定的結論となる。
Abstract: With the rapid rise of China accompanied by the US’s relative decline, the era of the US supremacy (hegemony) may be ending. There is an expectation that the US-China hegemonic competition, which might possibly entail a hegemonic war, may be coming. This is a crucial issue for East Asia. Will China be a (the) hegemon in the future? We will explore its prospect and come up with the tentative conclusion that it would not be likely. The reasons why that would be the case will be explained.
